shejestsatscars replied to your post: Oh so you fuckers give no shits that Darth Maul is…To be fair, most of those people don’t acknowledge Phantom’s existence.
ugh so rude
no it’s hilarious because everyone’s like DARTH VADER’S COMING BACK NO RUINING MY PERFECT SHOW
have you seen star wars
I don’t know, Star Wars movies and Star Wars EU don’t really go in the same bucket for everyone. I didn’t know that Darth Maul was brought back as something or other robot something until I was researching zabraks in a wiki
and headdesked really hard when I read it, but Darth Vader is probably my #1 favorite death in any fiction series, ever. Knowing that the comics that I don’t even know about and would never be affected by decided that being cut in half and thrown down a chute isn’t enough to kill a villain with like three lines is….very very different than making one of my favorite conclusions to a character’s story arc just a little delusional AU I have to keep in my head and cry over.
Then again I always hated the trope of character deaths never being final, no matter what the series, so maybe I’m the wrong one to talk about this.
No, no, I think you have a valid point. I mean, there’s even this official-unofficial “layers of canon” thing that the IP has when it determines the importance and the absolute-ness of events (movies are “A-level” and then various stuff in the EU trickles down from there). It is very true that there is a myriad of Star Wars stuff that I haven’t touched and probably will never touch, and it will not affect my enjoyment of the general canon of the series because in the end the movies are 100% what absolutely happens and if some author wants to go on a strange power trip (coughkarentravisscough) it doesn’t matter.
I hope that the rumors are false. I’m almost entirely convinced that it’s someone’s Star Wars wet dream to have Darth Vader mysteriously return from the dead completely fine
even though it negates Anakin’s entire journey and undermines Luke’s destiny. I wouldn’t put too much stock into it.
On the other hand, I have a lot of unpopular opinions about the upcoming movies i.e. I don’t want the Thrawn trilogy and I don’t want New Jedi Order stuff. I’d rather the IP be taken in a completely separate direction with new plots and new characters to enjoy and experience the continuing saga (though nods to the EU would be cool).
Blade to blade, they were identical. After thousands of hours in lightsaber sparring, they knew each other better than brothers, more intimately than lovers; they were complementary halves of a single warrior.
In every exchange, Obi-Wan gave ground. It was his way. And he knew that to strike Anakin down would burn his own heart to ash. [x]
At least he had Master Kenobi’s company for a little while. She was sure that accounted for his relief
They cheered each other up, those two. No matter how dire the straits, Anakin and Master Kenobi always managed to find a joke, a laugh, some way to ease the tension and pressure of the moment. ~ [x]
This show is amazing, jsyk.
